Getting a load onto a village lot
The mill village streets are narrow, the driveways are short and a lot of them are shared. A truck can usually get in, but the pile has to go somewhere that does not block a neighbor, so we settle that on the phone before anybody sets out.

Not much lawn. Cast iron plant, hellebore, autumn fern and liriope all handle dry root competition, and a straw covered bed beats a bare patch of dirt every time.
